Gravity a group show held in the Crawford Gallery, Cork. A skeleton of a whale hung in the wonderful Victorian sculpture gallery amidst plaster casts and marble carvings of famous figures, from the Belvedere Torso to the Goddess Minerva. In a demeaning pose the majestic animal hung suspended, its beak almost touching a small, empty, rusted-metal bucket placed on a marble plinth. Its pale grey porous bones mingling with the grandeur of marble.
Heron, a bird often seen standing still on the edge of the river in anticipation of a fish, is perched on the edge of a traditional Sugán chair and hung upside down from the ceiling of the gallery.
